Plainfield, CT — The Plainfield Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a wanted man who rammed a police cruiser and led officers on a pursuit Thursday afternoon.

According to the Plainfield Police Department, at approximately 5:31 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a wanted suspect in the Dollar General parking lot, 74 E Main St. The operator, 30-year-old Robert Lee Pendergast, fled in a Chevy Silverado bearing Connecticut registration BK27027. During his attempt to flee, Pendergast struck a police cruiser before speeding off.
Following the collision, officers lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit. Within seconds, however, the Silverado was spotted near All Hallows Cemetery, and the chase was re-engaged. The pursuit was again terminated at approximately 5:35 PM due to safety concerns.

It remains unclear what Pendergast was originally wanted for, but he has a lengthy arrest record that includes narcotics possession, larceny, and multiple motor vehicle offenses. In March, he was arrested after nearly striking a Connecticut State Police cruiser while fleeing the Quinebaug Lake Boat Launch as Troopers investigated reports of illegal activity in the area.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pendergast should contact the Plainfield Police Department at 860-564-0804 or the anonymous tip line 860-564-7065, referencing case number 2500011810.
