Thompson, CT — A 74-year-old Thompson woman was airlifted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a T-bone collision Thursday night.
At approximately 7:31 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam EMS, a QV Paramedic, and the Connecticut State Police were dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle accident with entrapment and serious injuries reported in the area of Old Turnpike Road and Walker Road.
Based on information obtained by Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications dispatchers, a LifeStar air medical helicopter was requested prior to responders arriving on scene. When units arrived, they found a T-bone accident involving a pickup truck and a van with the driver entrapped.
With the two closest heavy-rescue trucks — Community Fire Company and Muddy Brook Fire Department — both training at the Dayville Training Center, the Dudley Fire Department was requested to assist. Due to heavy damage to the driver’s door, crews were forced to remove the female operator through the passenger side. Once extricated, she was transported to the LifeStar helicopter waiting at Saint Stephen’s Church, a short distance from the scene.
According to the Connecticut State Police, at the time of the collision, a Ford F-150 operated by a 28-year-old Massachusetts man was traveling westbound on Old Turnpike Road, approaching the Walker Road/Dresser Hill Road intersection. At the same time, a 2007 Honda Odyssey operated by a 74-year-old Thompson woman stopped at the stop sign on Dresser Hill Road before attempting to continue southbound onto Walker Road.
As a result of the Thompson woman entering traffic, the F-150 struck the van in a T-bone collision, making contact primarily with the driver’s door. The Thompson woman was flown to UMass Memorial with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Massachusetts man was uninjured.
