Michelle F Yeagher Mugshot – CSP

The Connecticut State Police have confirmed that 65-year-old Michelle F. Yeagher, of 23 Pratt Road, was arrested at the scene for the murder of 39-year-old Andrew Michael Olson of Canterbury. Yeagher is being held on a $1,000,000 cash/surety bond on the following charges:

  • Murder (C.G.S. 53a-54a)
  • Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (C.G.S. 53-206)
  • Risk of Injury to a Child (C.G.S. 53-21(a)(1))
  • Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (C.G.S. 53a-63)

According to the Probable Cause Document submitted to the court by the Connecticut State Police and obtained by Quiet Corner Alerts, at approximately 9:21 AM on Monday, October 27, 2025, Troopers were dispatched to 23 Pratt Road for reports of a male with a gunshot wound to the chest. The on-duty Sergeant and another Trooper were the first to arrive and were met at the door by a 40-year-old male witness.

Troopers entered the residence and immediately located 39-year-old Andrew Michael Olson lying unresponsive on the floor directly inside the doorway. A protective sweep was conducted, during which 65-year-old Michelle F. Yeagher was found lying on a bed in a bedroom on the opposite side of the residence in a partially clothed state. Troopers ordered Yeagher to show her hands, and she complied.

Before being advised of her rights, Troopers asked Yeagher what had happened, and she responded, “He tried to kill me,” and “I shot him.” Troopers noted she appeared highly intoxicated while making these statements. She was immediately placed in handcuffs while additional arriving Troopers began rendering first aid to Olson, locating at least one gunshot wound to the lower right torso, just below the rib cage.

Shortly after being read her rights, Yeagher provided a more detailed statement, again indicating the incident was self-defense. She stated, “I shot him. He came after me, I shot him.” Yeagher told Troopers she was in her bedroom when Olson “came after her” and that she attempted to unlock a gun safe, noting several times that it took her a while to open it. She described the firearm as a small 9mm, but could not explain its current location. Investigators confirmed that Yeagher had a 9mm Smith & Wesson registered to her, and no other parties present at the residence possessed registered firearms. Troopers located a small safe near the bed where Yeagher was found, along with two 9mm cartridges on the floor — one beside the bed and another under a bureau. It is unclear if the firearm itself was located.

During the investigation, a 12-year-old boy was interviewed and stated he was watching Toy Story when Yeagher entered the room and shot Olson.

Yeagher was transported to Day Kimball Hospital due to a cut on her head, sustained at an unknown time. Detectives later interviewed her at the hospital after she signed her notice of rights. Upon further questioning, she stated she had been dealing with issues throughout the day and began drinking that night. Olson and the child arrived, and she eventually went to bed.

She reported waking up terrified for an unknown reason and attempted to retrieve her firearm from the gun safe. She did not recall if she successfully obtained the gun, but remembered “fidgeting with the key.” Yeagher told detectives that the next thing she remembered was hearing the male witness in distress and realizing someone was injured on the floor.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad.
