Brooklyn, CT — A 36-year-old Killingly woman was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend and attempting to start a fire inside his apartment.

According to a Connecticut State Police investigation report obtained by Quiet Corner Alerts, at approximately 3:55 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Troopers responded to the Quebec Square apartment complex to investigate a 911 call in which a person could be heard saying “help” before the line disconnected. It was later determined that the call originated from the accused, Doreen Racine, of 51 Reynolds Street, Killingly — Access Emergency Shelter.

When Troopers arrived, they were approached by a male victim who stated that he had been asleep when he awoke to his girlfriend stabbing him. The victim was transported to Day Kimball Hospital with several lacerations to his arm and lower torso.

The report detailed the man’s account of the incident. He told police that earlier in the night, he had a beer while Racine used marijuana, and that the pair later smoked approximately “a 30 of crack cocaine.” He said he went to bed around 2 AM, leaving Racine in the living room — something that was typical when she stayed with him. He awoke to find Racine kneeling on top of him, attempting to stab him in the stomach with a large kitchen knife. The two struggled for several minutes before he managed to push her away.

After the struggle, Racine reportedly sat back down in the living room, where she threw a candle at the curtains in an attempt to ignite them. When that failed, she tried to use a lighter to start a fire, but was unsuccessful. The man told police he was able to get the knife away from her and place it in the kitchen, but she later rearmed herself. He then left the apartment, intending to drive himself to the hospital, but when he saw Troopers approaching, he exited his vehicle to speak with them and realized he was bleeding heavily. Troopers noted that he had multiple lacerations to his arm and lower torso.

During the arrest and processing, Troopers observed that Racine would not move or speak and was found sitting in the living room with a blank stare. She was taken into custody without further incident. Once back at the barracks, it was determined that candle wax was present on her clothing. Troopers also noted that she would have sudden fits of rage and make strange comments such as, “Do you want to see a magic trick?”

Doreen M Racine was arrested and held on a $25,000 cash/surety bond on the following charges:

  • Assault 1st Degree (C.G.S 53a-59)
  • Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree (C.G.S 53a-63)
  • Disorderly Conduct (C.G.S 53a-182)
