Thompson, CT — A 19-year-old Thompson woman was apprehended Sunday night in Windham after a patrolling Trooper spotted the van she stole from the River’s Edge group home.
According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 8:56 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Troopers assigned to Troop D were dispatched to 65 Church Street, Thompson – River’s Edge group home (a facility for girls 13-20 adjacent to the Susan Wayne Center) for reports of a stolen vehicle. When the Troopers arrived, an employee told them a resident had taken a 2021 Toyota Sienna belonging to the group home without permission.
At approximately 9:55 PM, a Troop K Trooper, who was aware of the active Be On the Look Out (BOLO), spotted the stolen vehicle on Boston Post Road in Windham. The Trooper stopped the vehicle and took the operator, a 19-year-old woman residing at 65 Church St, Thompson, into custody without incident. The woman was charged and issued a $5,000 bond for the following charges:
- Larceny of a Motor Vehicle – 1st Offense (C.G.S. 53a-119c)
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License (C.G.S. 14-36a)
- Failure to Drive in the Proper Lane (C.G.S. 14-236)
