Killingly, CT — One of the three individuals who crashed a stolen vehicle and fled from police in March was re-arrested after being found in the area where residents reported someone tampering with their vehicles.
According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 1221 AM on May 3rd, 2025, Troopers were dispatched to Morin Ave for reports of a person going through vehicles. As the troopers checked the area, they located an individual who matched the description given by the caller. The individual, identified as 18-year-old Jenay Busanet, was found to have an active arrest warrant. He was arrested on the following charges related to the warrant:
- Larceny of a Motor Vehicle – 1st Offence (C.G.S. 53a-119c)
- Larceny 6th Degree (C.G.S. 53a-125b)
- Breach of Peace 2nd Degree (C.G.S. 53a-181)
The warrant, obtained by Quiet Corner Alerts, explained that at approximately 2:49 AM on March 21st, 2025, Troopers received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from a John Street residence. The resident had just returned home from a trip and was attending to his home when he heard tires squealing in the driveway. When he looked outside, his blue 2007 Honda Accord was no longer in his driveway – he acknowledged the vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside. The vehicle was registered in Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Communications Teleprocessing (COLLECT) as a stolen vehicle.
When the individuals were processed in relation to the stolen vehicle crash on I-395, a key was found on Busanet’s person. He claimed it was for a motorcycle and that it was given to him by another individual. Troopers noted the key had the trademark Honda logo on it.
At 4:20 PM on March 22nd, approximately 1 hour after Troopers were dispatched to I-395 for the stolen vehicle crash, Troopers were dispatched to Franklin Street to recover a stolen Blue 2007 Honda Accord from the Saint James church parking lot. With the location of the vehicle being approximately 1/2 mile from the crash scene, and the fact that both cases involved a stolen vehicle, Troopers brought the key found on Busanet to Franklin Street to check if it was a match to the Honda. The key fit the ignition and started the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the owner, and an arrest warrant (being referenced) was issued for Jenay Busanet’s arrest on April 28th, 2025.
