Thompson, CT – Crews spent several hours extinguishing a deep-seated brush fire that had likely been burning for hours or days before a passing helicopter spotted it.
While the fire only mapped at .27 acres, it burnt as deep as 6 inches into the forest floor of pine needles and leaves.
Agencies that responded included the East Thompson Volunteer Fire Department, Thompson Fire Engine Company (Thompson Hill), and the Community Fire Company.
