Thompson, Conn. – Shortly after 7:30 pm Tuesday evening, October 4th, the East Thompson Volunteer Fire Department and mutual aid companies were dispatched for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries on I-395 Southbound in the area of exit 53 (Wilsonville Rd).

The first arriving unit reported at least three vehicles involved with at least seven patients for evaluation by EMS.

According to East Thompson Assistant Chief Kristal Simon, a thermal imaging camera was used to search the area off of the roadway where another victim was found with fatal injuries. All other patients were released with no injuries.

Chief Simon went on to stress the importance of East Thompson’s mutual aid relationships and extended her thanks to the Thompson Fire Engine Company for their assistance.

Interstate 395 remained closed for hours while Connecticut State Police conducted their investigation.

Units who responded to the scene included the East Thompson Volunteer Fire Department, Thompson Fire Engine Company, Putnam EMS, and the Connecticut State Police.
