Hampton, CT — Three people were arrested Monday afternoon after Connecticut State Police responded to a reported burglary in progress at a residence on Hartford Turnpike in Hampton.
At approximately 3:42 p.m. on October 5, Troop D received a 911 call from a homeowner reporting an active burglary at their residence. The homeowner told dispatchers they were monitoring a live camera feed from the property and observed a male wearing dark clothing, a face mask, hood, and bandana near the front entrance of the home.
The homeowner told dispatchers the residence was approximately 400 feet from the roadway and that no one should have been on the property. The homeowner then reported seeing two males on camera, both wearing all-black clothing and appearing to be breaking into the residence.
Troopers from Troop D, including Trooper First Class Mara and K9 Kash, arrived on scene at approximately 3:52 p.m. and observed three males wearing dark clothing, hoods, and face masks standing in the woods behind the residence.
According to State Police, troopers identified themselves and all three individuals fled on foot into the woods. TFC Mara then deployed K9 Kash to track the suspects.
K9 Kash tracked the first suspect approximately half a mile from the residence along the Airline Trail, just before Potter Road. The individual was detained and identified as Dylan Ducharme, 32, of Jewett City.
Troopers located a second suspect in the same general area where K9 Kash had tracked Ducharme. Police said the male was actively hiding along the wooded edge of the trail. He was detained and identified as Hunter Andrus, 19, of Gales Ferry.
