Brooklyn, CT — A father and son were airlifted to Providence hospitals Sunday afternoon after their pickup truck hit a tree just one mile from their Pomfret residence.
According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 2:55 PM on Sunday, August 10th, 2025, a 2016 Nissan Frontier operated by a 41-year-old Pomfret man was traveling on Elliot Rd in Brooklyn. The vehicle left the roadway in the area of number 191, striking the tree with the front right corner of the truck. The driver and one of the two children in the back seat were seriously injured.
The operator was transported to a landing zone established by the Hampton Fire Company in a nearby field and further transported by LIFESTAR to Rhode Island Hospital. His 7-year-old son was transported to Day Kimball Hospital and flown to Hasboro Children’s Hospital by a second LIFESTAR helicopter. The 2-year-old daughter was reportedly uninjured.
The accident is under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Troop D and the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
