Plainfield, CT — A 24-year-old Plainfield man was killed Monday evening after losing control of his dirt bike on Norwich Road, just feet from his residence.

According to the Plainfield Police Department, at approximately 7:08 PM on Monday, June 16th, 2025, they began receiving numerous 911 calls for reports of a collision between a car and a dirt bike in the area of 721 Norwich Rd.

Officers arrived to find the 24-year-old male operator unconscious in the roadway, with the scene approximately 400′ from his Norwich Road residence. Officers immediately attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived and a LIFESTAR helicopter was dispatched to Backus Plainfield. The rider was transported to Plainfield Backus Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation, conducted by the Plainfield Police Department’s Accident Reconstructionist and Special Investigations Unit, revealed the dirt bike was traveling North on Route 12 when the operator lost control and entered the Southbound lane, where it collided with a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, operated by a 22-year-old Brooklyn woman.

The collision remains under investigation, and anyone who witnessed it should contact Lieutenant Troy Gelinas, Plainfield Police Department, at 860-564-0804.
