On June 6th, 2025, now 21-year-old Wes McRoy of Thompson was arrested, charged, and held on a $100,000 bond (with the condition of no vehicle operation or use/possession of alcohol or illicit substance upon posting) for the following charges:
- Assault 2nd Degree – Motor Vehicle (C.G.S. 53a-60d)

According to an affidavit provided by the Connecticut State Police, a witness at the scene indicated he had been following the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Northbound on Buckley Hill Road when he observed it doing donuts in the Pompeo Road intersection. The vehicle continued recklessly down the roadway, leaving tire marks along the way, when the operator lost control and spun into a tree.
The affidavit continued to state that the investigation determined the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was traveling Northbound on Buckley Hill Road as it approached Pompeo Road. Donut-style tire marks were located from the vehicle between the three stop signs before exiting the intersection Northbound onto Buckley Hill Road. The Camaro continued Northbound when, approximately 377 ft from the crash site, burnout-style tire marks began and continued to the crash site in an S pattern across both lanes of travel. The vehicle then struck a large tree head-on and was redirected to face south-southeast.
The victim’s statement provided by the passenger indicated the pair had been at a party in Thompson before the collision. At the party, McRoy consumed marijuana dabs and at least one shot of vodka. The statement went on to detail McRoy’s history of reckless driving, which often consisted of burnouts and donuts, and had previously led to a ticket for Reckless Driving.
