Brooklyn, CT — Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish a fire inside the former D&Z Soda King on Route 6 Sunday evening.
At approximately 8:55 PM on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, East Brooklyn Fire Department’s 1st alarm was struck for a reported fire at 592 Providence Rd, the former D&Z Soda King. Crews arrived to find smoke showing from the A/B (front right) corner of the abandoned gas station-style building. The initial crew was able to quickly deploy an attack line and extinguish a small fire inside the building. The incident was placed under control after approximately 15 minutes.
The property has been abandoned for several years, and doors are often seen left open.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brooklyn Fire Marshal’s Office.
Agencies that responded included the East Brooklyn Fire Department, Mortlake Fire Company, Danielson Fire Department, South Killingly Fire Department, Atwood Hose Fire Company, Attawaugan Fire Department, Brooklyn Fire Marshal, and the Connecticut State Police Troop D.
