Brooklyn, CT — A motorcycle rider and his passenger were seriously injured Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle rear-ended a vehicle on Route 6.

At approximately 2:14 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the East Brooklyn Fire Department, Mortlake Fire and EMS, KB Ambulance, Quinebaug Valley paramedics, and the Connecticut State Police were dispatched to the area of Providence Road (Route 6) and Brickyard Road for a reported motorcycle crash with injuries.

Units arrived on scene and quickly determined both occupants of the motorcycle would require rapid transport to trauma centers. The two nearest available medical helicopters — Hartford HealthCare LIFE STAR and Boston MedFlight — were requested to Day Kimball Hospital and the hospital’s alternate landing zone at Putnam Elementary School to minimize delays in transport.

According to the Connecticut State Police, a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq operated by a 30-year-old Canterbury man was traveling westbound on Providence Road when it was struck from behind by a 2019 Harley-Davidson Road Glide operated by a 36-year-old Brooklyn man, who was carrying a 35-year-old woman from Webster, Massachusetts as a passenger.

The motorcycle operator sustained serious injuries, while the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries. Both were flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, a Level I trauma center.

The collision remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.
