Thompson/Willimantic, CT – A Willimantic woman has been extradited from Maine on multiple charges stemming from the Fabyan Rd stabbing which occurred in May.
According to the Connecticut State Police, 31-year-old Cassandra Heredia, of Willimantic, was taken into custody on June 12th, 2024, in Bangor, Maine on an extraditable arrest warrant issued by Danielson Superior Court. She was held at Penobscot County Jail until her extradition to Connecticut on July 8th, 2024. Heredia is charged with the below charges. She was assigned a $175,000 bond by the court.
- Assault 1st Degree (CGS 53a-59)
- Conspiracy to Commit Assault 1st Degree (CGS 53a-48/59)
- Assault 3rd Degree (CGS 53a-61)
Last week Heredia’s co-conspirator, Walter Lawson, was also extradited after being arrested by US Marshals in Bangor, ME on June 12th, 2024. Thompson Stabbing Incident/Investigation
According to an affidavit within Heredia’s arrest warrant, provided by the CSP, at approximately 5:10 PM on Friday, May 10th, 2024, Troop D received a call from a female stating she was in a black Ford Focus or Fusion (later determined to be located at the Fabyan Rd Boat Launch in Thompson) with an unknown Hispanic male driver and Cassandra Heredia to sell “crack.” After punching the victim multiple times, the Heredia called Walter Lawson to ask what to do next.
Heredia began assaulting the victim again as she attempted to defend herself with her legs, Heredia then stabbed the victim’s legs multiple times with a pocket knife before dragging her from the vehicle and leaving her at the boat launch.
The victim attempted to stop the bleeding with a bandana and called 911 again. EMS transported her with serious injuries to UMass Worcester.
