Woodstock/Willimantic, CT – A 35-year-old Willimantic woman was fatally injured after a severe crash near Roseland Park Friday morning.

At approximately 10:16 AM on Friday, July 12th, 2024, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Roseland Park Rd and Arvidson Rd for reports of a vehicle accident with entrapment and serious injuries.

While crews were responding Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communication (QVEC) coordinated with area Air Ambulances to dispatch the closest helicopter to the scene per Dispatch Initiated Auto Launch (DIAL) guidelines. When the first unit, Ambulance 676, arrived on the scene, they found a single vehicle down an embankment into Roseland Park with entrapment and a fire starting beneath it.

The lone occupant of the vehicle, a  35-year-old Willimantic woman, was pronounced deceased on the scene and the helicopter was stood down.

According to the Connecticut State Police, the woman was traveling Northbound in a 2011 Toyota Camry when she veered off the roadway to the right. The vehicle struck approximately 40′ of a wooden fence and a utility pole before traveling down an embankment into a tree. The speed at which the vehicle was traveling is currently unknown.

Roseland Park Rd was shut down for several hours to facilitate the investigation.

Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association, Bungay Fire Brigade, Muddy Brook Fire Department, Woodstock EMS, KB Ambulance’s QV Medic, Hartford Healthcare LIFE STAR, and the Connecticut State Police Troop D.

Quiet Corner Alerts maintains a policy of not revealing the names of victims or suspects unless they are actively being sought by law enforcement or pose a perceived threat to the public.
