Putnam, CT – Police are attempting to identify a man who claimed to work with the Fire Marshal’s Office Tuesday morning.


According to the Putnam Police Department, at approximately 9:43 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, the man (pictured above) rang the doorbell of a home in the area of Dewey St and Bates Ave asking if anyone was home. The man identified himself as someone working with the Fire Marshal.
While speaking through a doorbell camera, the homeowner determined the suspect was not really with the Fire Marshal’s office.
Police verified that nobody from the Fire Marshal’s office was working in the area and canvased the area for the suspicious man without success.
Members of the Putnam Fire Marshal’s office will always clearly identify themselves and present the proper credentials.
