Putnam, CT – A Putnam man was hospitalized Friday evening after being assaulted by two men with machetes.

According to the Putnam Police Department, at approximately 9:47 p.m. on Friday, April 5th, 2024, Putnam Emergency Dispatch received a call for a male attacked by two individuals with machetes in the area of Smith St and Daniels St.

When police responded to the scene they found a male victim with cuts to his ankles. The victim reported that a white male and a black male struck at his ankles with the machetes before they stole various items from him and fled in an unknown direction.

A call went out to area agencies for a K9 to assist with tracking the suspects. A Norwich K9 responded to the scene and conducted a track but no suspects were discovered.

The victim was transported to Day Kimball Hospital by Putnam EMS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was later transported to Hartford Hospital.
