Burrillville, RI / Turner, ME- A 29-year-old Woonsocket man with open warrants out of Burrillville was apprehended Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) in Turner, Maine.
A felony warrant was issued on March 8th, 2024, stemming from a February 16th incident where two Burrillville Police Officers were dragged by a vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
The USMS Rhode Island Fugitive Task Force requested assistance from the Maine Violent Offender Task Force (MVOTF) in locating and apprehending the suspect.
Marshals were able to develop information leading investigators to New Portland, ME. Marshals identified the suspect as a passenger in a motor vehicle and apprehended him without incident. Marshals were assisted in the arrest by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect is being charged as a Fugitive from Justice and will be arraigned in Maine pending his extradition back to Rhode Island. The suspect is charged with:
- Felony Assault and/or Battery x2
- Possession of a Schedule I to V
Controlled Substance 10 Grams or
Less x2 - Reckless Driving and Other Offenses
Against Public Safety – 1st Offense - Resisting Legal or Illegal Arrest
- Disorderly Conduct
Agencies involved in the apprehension included the U.S. Marshals Service, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, and task force members from the Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
