Plainfield/Griswold, CT – A tractor-trailer loaded with ash rolled over Wednesday Morning shutting down I-395 in both directions.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. the Plainfield Fire Co. # 1, Griswold Fire Department, and Moosup Ambulance were dispatched to Interstate 395 Northbound for reports of a tractor-trailer rollover between Exits 24 (Rt 201, Griswold) and 28 (Lathrop Rd, Plainfield) at the Plainfield/Griswold town line.

Crews arrived to find a tractor-trailer on its side in the median and several tons of ash across all lanes of the highway. Crews traveling Southbound to turn around and enter the Northbound lanes were unable to make it past the accident having to stop on the southbound side and approach the wreck on foot.

The highway is expected to be closed through rush hour as cleanup crews clear the roadway.

Minor injuries have been reported.

Agencies on the scene include the Plainfield Fire Co. #1, Griswold Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Ambulance (Moosup Ambulance), and the Connecticut State Police.
