According to the arrest warrant application obtained by Quiet Corner Alerts, at approximately 4:32 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Troopers were dispatched to Thompson Road [near Mary Road] for a reported rollover crash involving a black 2004 Chevy Tahoe. When the first Trooper arrived at 4:41 PM, Fire and EMS personnel were already on scene, and responders reported that the male driver had run from the crash.
Witnesses told Troopers they observed a skinny male with tattoos, wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and slurring his words, fleeing northbound on Thompson Road and turning onto a side road. One witness reported seeing the same black Chevy Tahoe moments earlier, driving erratically, rapidly changing speed, and the operator waving his hands out the window.
Troopers interviewed the passenger, a 23-year-old woman, who identified the driver as Robert Connors, then 29. A Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Communications Teleprocessing (COLLECT) database check showed Connors’ license was expired. The passenger told Troopers that Connors had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated and believed he was headed towards a family member’s home in Webster, MA. The passenger was transported to Day Kimball Hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers searched the surrounding area and located another witness who reported seeing a similar male walking northbound on Thompson Road. A K-9 team conducted a search but ended it at the state line without locating Connors.
The Tahoe was found on its right side, leaning against a tree with personal belongings scattered across the scene. A COLLECT check revealed the vehicle had misused plates from a canceled vehicle. Investigators noted approximately 70 feet of yaw marks beginning in the northbound lane and leading to the overturned vehicle. No objects appeared to have been struck prior to the rollover.
While operating on the scene, responders located a pistol on the ground near the open sunroof. It was determined to be a BB gun and was seized as evidence.
At the hospital, the passenger was re-interviewed and found to have a fresh head laceration, bruising, and redness on her back, along with facial injuries. She told investigators that on Saturday, May 10, 2025, Connors struck her during an altercation at his mother’s home and threatened to cut her with a box cutter. She said she fled and hid until he fell asleep.
Regarding the crash, she told Troopers the pair had been going to a liquor store at Connors’ request, where she purchased two half-pints of alcohol for him. After leaving the store, Connors’ mood changed, and he began yelling about a broken bike. She said when she asked him to stop the car, he told her SUVs “roll over easy” and that they were going to crash. Connors then grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it back and forth rapidly, causing the vehicle to roll. She braced herself against the dashboard handle as the Tahoe overturned. After escaping the vehicle, Connors told her to run with him, but she refused.
The passenger reported that Connors had been driving around 80 mph in the center of the yellow line, had consumed about 1.5 pints of alcohol, and had cut off his ankle monitor on the Thursday before the crash. At the time, she declined to press charges or provide a written statement to the Investigators.
Later that evening, at approximately 9:35 PM, Troopers were dispatched to Breaults Lane in Thompson for a disturbance involving Connors, who was reportedly searching for the victim. He fled in another vehicle before Troopers arrived.
