Pomfret, CT — A Connecticut State Trooper was transported with minor injuries after striking a tree with his cruiser responding to a call Friday night.
According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 10:49 PM on Friday, October 31, 2025, a 2018 Ford Interceptor operated by a 24-year-old Trooper [who has been out of the academy for approximately six months] was traveling east on Route 44 (Putnam Road) when he left the roadway while attempting to navigate the right curve at Woodstock Road. The Trooper was transported to Day Kimball Hospital with minor injuries.
Unconfirmed information indicates the Trooper had begun his overnight shift approximately 20 minutes prior and had been dispatched to a call of an unknown nature in Putnam. At the same time, Troopers were on scene attempting to locate a reported suicidal individual near the Putnam/Thompson line, it is unclear if this is where the Trooper involved in the accident was responding.
