Pomfret, CT — State Police located a stolen vehicle after a Pomfret resident spotted suspicious people on their property early Thursday morning.

According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 4:40 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2025, Troopers were dispatched to 405 Brooklyn Road for reports of suspicious people in a yard. Once the individuals realized they had been spotted, they fled south in a vehicle with a loud exhaust. The caller attempted to follow the vehicle, which was later found crashed on Brooklyn Rd. Two separate K9 tracks were conducted, but did not lead the Troopers to the suspects.

Troopers were able to determine that the crashed vehicle was stolen out of Ashford and seized it as evidence.

Area residents reported to Quiet Corner Alerts, the individuals may have entered at least one other property that night, but the State Police were unable to confirm any other reports in the area.

The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper John Zlotnick #1153 at Troop D, 860-779-4900, or by email at john.zlotnick@ct.gov.
