Woodstock, CT — A 53-year-old Brooklyn man was airlifted to UMass Memorial with serious injuries after colliding with another vehicle on Route 171 Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:37 PM on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, Troop D received an automated crash detection in the area of Route 171 and Pulpit Rock Road in Woodstock. As troopers were responding to check the area, 911 calls began coming in to Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications for reports of a motorcycle versus car accident. The Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association, Muddy Brook Fire Department, Bungay Fire Brigade, Woodstock EMS, and a KB Ambulance paramedic were dispatched to the area.
According to the Connecticut State Police, a 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, operated by a 53-year-old Brooklyn man, was traveling eastbound on Route 171, as a 2024 Honda CR-V, operated by a 57-year-old Hartford man, was traveling westbound. The motorcycle crossed into the westbound lane, striking the front driver’s corner of the CR-V, causing the rider to be ejected from the bike.
The Muddy Brook Fire Department was requested to go to Academy Road to secure a landing zone for UMass Memorial LifeFlight. Woodstock EMS transported the rider to the landing zone, where he was subsequently airlifted to UMass Memorial with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The operator of the CR-V was uninjured in the accident.
The incident remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Troop D.
