Thompson/Plainfield, CT – The skeletal remains discovered in Thompson last fall have been identified as a Plainfield woman who had been missing from Plainfield for over a year.
According to the Plainfield Police Department, on October 11th, 2023, family members filed a missing person report regarding 33-year-old Alicia Balderston. The family indicated she was last known to reside at the Elite Inn, 66 East Main Street in Moosup, and had not made contact since March 2023.
On October 17th, 2024, area residents observed Lowell Davis Road in Thompson blocked by Police with numerous Troopers working in the area. At the time, the Connecticut State Police (CSP) indicated “Eastern District Major Crime detectives were conducting an investigation on Lowell Davis Rd regarding a missing person. There is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.”
In a May 31st, 2025, press release, the Plainfield Police Department confirmed the CSP located skeletal remains on Lowell Davis Road in Thompson on October 17th, 2024. These remains were later identified as belonging to Alicia Baldertson by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The cause of death remains undetermined.
The press release went on to explain that while the Plainfield Police Department’s missing person case has been closed, the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Division continues to investigate the death.
