Putnam, CT — A 49-year-old Putnam man has been arrested for his involvement in the January 6th Powhattan St stabbing, which resulted in a 44-year-old man being airlifted with serious injuries. The accused assailant was 32 days into a 2-year probation.
According to the Putnam Police Department, at approximately 3 AM on Monday, January 6th, 2025, the Putnam Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a victim reporting he had just been stabbed.
When officers arrived in the area of 102-104 Powhattan St, they found a 44-year-old man on the ground with significant injuries from “an edged instrument”. He was treated on scene, transported to Day Kimball Hospital by Putnam EMS, and subsequently flown to Rhode Island Hospital by UMass Memorial Life Flight.
Through their on-scene investigation, police determined the victim and suspect knew each other, and the incident appeared to be a “directed assault”.

According to an April 23rd update from the Putnam Police Department, at approximately 1:55 PM on April 23rd, 2025, 49-year-old Roland K McFarlin of School Street, Putnam, was arrested on an active arrest warrant resulting from a lengthy investigation conducted by the Putnam Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit. McFarlin was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with Assault in the Second Degree (C.G.S. 53a-60(a)(2)). He is currently held on a $50,000 bond.
According to the Connecticut Judicial System website, Roland K McFarlin was found guilty of Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offence (C.G.S. 21a-279(a)(1)), a Class A Misdemeanor on December 5th, 2024, 32 days prior to the Powhattan Street incident, and given a delayed sentence of 11 months in jail pending a 2-year probation beginning on December 5th, 2024.
