Killingly, CT – A Dayville Fire Company Officer was injured after he was struck by a vehicle crossing the road while responding to a medical call Monday evening.
According to the Connecticut State Police (CSP), at approximately 6 PM on Monday, December 16th, 2024, a 2019 Subaru Forester Premium, operated by a 35-year-old Dayville woman, was traveling Northbound on Main St as a 45-year-old Dayville Fire Officer was crossing the street from where his personal vehicle was parked. The Subaru struck the Fire Officer in the North lane injuring him. He was transported to Day Kimball Hospital by KB Ambulance with “suspected minor injuries.”
The State Police report went on to state that the road conditions were wet, and the weather was dark and raining at the time of the accident. The Firefighter was also wearing dark clothing and no reflective equipment. Authors Note: Firefighters do not typically wear reflective equipment unless they are operating at incidents in the roadway.
