Killingly, CT – A State Police K9 apprehended a Danielson man after he crashed his vehicle on Route 6 and fled on foot.
According to the Connecticut State Police (CSP), at approximately 7:15 PM on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, Troopers assigned to Troop D were dispatched to the area of Providence Pike (Route 6) and Governor John Davis Lodge Turnpike (Route 695) for a single-vehicle accident.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they found a Nissan Altima spun out in the roadway with heavy damage. As troopers investigated the vehicle they noted it was unoccupied and locked with no occupant in sight. A DMV query revealed the vehicle had an expired registration to a Providence Pike man, later found to be the operator, and the insurance was unconfirmed.
K9 Falco was called to the scene and began a scent track from the scene. He tracked for approximately 1/2 mile into a wooded area locating the male running on foot along Rt 695 Eastbound. Troopers issued verbal commands for the man to stop but he instead jumped down the embankment off of Rt 695. Troopers then issued commands for him to show his hands, and when he refused, K9 Falco was deployed quickly leading to the man’s apprehension.
The man, later identified as 56-year-old James Saritelli of Providence Pike, Danielson, was placed under arrest before being transported to Day Kimball Hospital (Putnam, CT) for injuries sustained during the apprehension. Upon discharge from the hospital, he was transported to Troop D for processing and later released on a $2,500 bond for the following charges:
- Operating Under the Influence(14-227a(3))
- Interfering with an officer (CGS 53a-167a)
- Evading Responsibility (CGS 14-225)
- Operating Without Insurance (CGS 14-213b(3))
- Operating an Unregistered Vehicle (CGS 14-12(a)*)
- Failure to Maintain Lane (CGS 14-236)
