According to the Connecticut State Police (CSP), a 2012 Ford Escape XLT, registered and believed to be operated by 43-year-old Eric Silvia of Moosup, was traveling south on Tripp Hollow Rd when the operator failed to maintain their lane and struck a utility pole. The operator was seen walking south on Tripp Hollow Rd.

Due to the wires blocking the roadway, and limited access from the south side of the scene, Troopers were significantly hindered in tracking the operator. Troopers and K9s worked for several hours attempting to locate the man but it does not appear they were successful.

The Connecticut State Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the accident, contact Trooper Gaertner at 860-779-4900.

Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Mortlake Fire Company, Mortlake EMS, East Brooklyn Fire Department, and the Connecticut State Police Troop D.
