Brooklyn, CT – A 70-year-old Providence man was fatally injured in a two-vehicle collision Friday morning.
At approximately 5:50 AM on Friday, June 21st, 2024, members of the Mortlake Fire Company and East Brooklyn Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Wauregan Rd and Gorman Rd for a 2 car motor vehicle accident with entrapment and serious injuries.
The first unit on the scene reported one vehicle with heavy entrapment and a person inside seriously injured. LIFE STAR was immediately requested to a nearby landing zone.
According to the Connecticut State Police, Troopers arrived to find a 2006 Blue Dodge RAM pickup, operated by a 23-year-old Moosup man, and a 2007 Ford Explorer, operated by a 70-year-old Providence man, to have disabling damage.
A short time later LIFESTAR was canceled and the Providence man was pronounced deceased on the scene. The Moosup man was transported to Backus Hospital (Plainfield) with minor injuries.
The incident is still under investigation by the Connecticut State Police and anyone with any information in regards to this collision is asked to call Troop D at 860-779-4900.
Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Mortlake Fire Company, East Brooklyn Fire Department, KB Amublance’s QV Medic, Hampton Fire Company, Hartford Healthcare LIFESTAR, and the Connecticut State Police.
