Norwich, CT – Emergency crews are on the scene of a tractor-trailer rollover on I-395 North below the Route 2 overpass. The highway is anticipated to remain closed for an extended period.

At approximately 1:33 p.m. on Friday, January 5th, 2023 the Yantic and East Great Plains Fire Departments were dispatched to I-395 North in the area of Exit 13 (Route 2).

Units arrived to find a tractor-trailer overturned blocking all lanes below the Route 2 overpass in the area of the clover leaf interchange. Upon further investigation, the driver was reported to still be in the cab but was not entrapped. Crews were able to quickly assist the driver out of the truck where they were transferred to EMS. The trailer appears to have been loaded with scrap metal which has partially spilled onto the roadway.

The highway has been closed by the Connecticut State Police Troop E and Department of Transportation. Cleanup is expected to take a significant amount of time.

Minor injuries have been reported as a result of the accident.

Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Yantic Fire Department, East Great Plains Fire Department, American Ambulance, Connecticut State Police Troop E, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
