Killingly, CT — A senior Connecticut State Trooper was injured Saturday night while attempting to place a domestic violence suspect in custody.

According to the Connecticut State Police (CSP), at approximately 11:45 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Troopers were informed of a non-active domestic disturbance on Quinebaug Dr, Killingly. The 18-year-old victim and two other victims left the residence before reporting the incident.

According to a CSP Investigation Report obtained by Quiet Corner Alerts, a Trooper responded to a Putnam residence to interview the victims, while two other Troopers responded to the Quinebaug Dr residence to interview the reported assailant. Through interviews with the victims and visible injuries from an apparent assault, it was determined there was probable cause for the apprehension of the 41-year-old Killingly man. The report indicated that only one of the two adult victims interviewed was willing to provide a written statement; a third victim is believed to be a juvenile.

When the two Troopers were attempting to place the man in custody, he resisted arrest, sustaining injuries to his face during the struggle. According to victim statements, the man had been drinking earlier in the day and may have been intoxicated at the time of the arrest. During the altercation, the suspect’s German Shepherd escaped from a bedroom, biting a Trooper First Class in the face, resulting in cuts and puncture wounds. Once placed in custody, the man was transported back to Troop D, where he was evaluated by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.

A representative from the CSP told Quiet Corner Alerts that the Trooper went to the hospital for treatment after the incident was under control. He has since been released and is expected to be okay.

The 41-year-old Killingly man was charged and held on a $10,000 cash bond for the following charges:

  • Interference with an Officer/Resisting Arrest (C.G.S. 53a-167a)
  • Disorderly Conduct (C.G.S. 53a-182)
  • Assault 3rd Degree (C.G.S. 53a-61)

Quiet Corner Alerts maintains a policy of not revealing the names of victims or suspects unless they are actively being sought by law enforcement or pose a perceived threat to the public.
