Plainfield, CT — A fire in an attached garage tore through a single-family home early Friday morning. Officials say one person was injured during the fire.
At approximately 12:45 AM on Friday, January 23, 2026, a 1st alarm was struck for a reported garage fire at 41 Pratt Rd, Plainfield Fire Co #1’s district. Plainfield Police arrived on the scene within approximately one minute and confirmed the garage portion of the structure was fully involved, and all occupants had made it out of the house.
When firefighters arrived, two 1.75″ attack lines were deployed, allowing crews to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire in the residence and the remnants of the garage. The second arriving apparatus was able to connect to a nearby hydrant on West Side Dr and lay approximately 400 feet of Large Diameter Hose (LDH) to the scene, ensuring there was ample water available to the attack engine. Crews chased hotspots for approximately two hours, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished.
According to Plainfield Fire Co #1, one resident was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the fire. The home was heavily damaged in the blaze.
The fire is under investigation by the Plainfield Fire Marshal’s Office.
