Canterbury, CT — On-duty state troopers and the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit were requested to a house fire, which was quickly contained by firefighters, on Friday evening.

At approximately 7:09 PM on November 28, 2025, the Canterbury Fire Department, along with mutual aid from the Scotland Fire Department, Lisbon Fire Department, and the Baltic Fire Department, was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 199 Goodwin Road. Upon arrival, crews found a haze inside the residence and reported the fire to be extinguished within approximately five minutes. An on-duty state trooper was requested to the scene. The reason for the trooper’s response and the extent of the fire were not immediately clarified by the Canterbury Fire Department Public Information Officer.

According to the Connecticut State Police, troopers assigned to Troop D were requested to the scene for a “suspicious incident.” A trooper assigned to the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit (FEIU) later responded to assist the Canterbury Fire Marshal with their investigation.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
