Thompson, CT — Baker Road was closed for several hours Wednesday morning as the State Police investigated an overnight ATV crash.
According to the Connecticut State Police, at approximately 5:45 AM on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, Troopers responded to reports of an ATV crash on Baker Road with serious injuries reported.
Quiet Corner Alerts observed the roadway closed, approximately 100′ from the site of the fatal 2023 dirt bike crash, by Troopers at approximately 7:45 AM.
Unofficial sources indicate the accident occurred at approximately 2:45 AM, and bystanders on the scene transported the victim to Day Kimball Hospital in a personal vehicle, where they were rapidly transferred to UMass.
Quiet Corner Alerts was able to verify neither the East Thompson Volunteer Fire Department nor the Thompson Fire Engine Company, which both cover sections of Baker Rd, had any emergency calls in the area overnight.
At approximately 3:20 AM, a request was made to UMass Memorial LifeFlight to fly a patient from Day Kimball Hospital. The request was denied due to aviation weather in the Putnam area; it is unclear if this request was related to the ATV crash.
The incident is under investigation by the Connecticut State Police with assistance from the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police.

According to the Connecticut State Police, their investigation determined a 2015 Polaris 1000, operated by an unidentified operator, was traveling eastbound on Baker Rd when it traveled across the opposite lane, left the roadway, and rolled over.
The operator was transported to Day Kimball Hospital by an unidentified party and subsequently transported to UMass [Memorial] Trauma Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police, and no enforcement action has occurred at the time of this article. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Troop D at 860-779-4900.
