Eastford, CT – The operator of the SUV that struck a motorcyclist and fled in Eastford Saturday evening has turned himself in to Troop D.

At approximately 8:27 PM on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, the Eastford Independent Fire Co. #1 along with KB Ambulance (Pomfret), a QV Medic, and the Connecticut State Police Troop D were dispatched to the area of Eastford Rd (Rt 198) and Providence Pike for car vs motorcycle accident.

Units arrived to find the motorcyclist conscious and alert but medical personnel feared further internal injuries and quickly requested a helicopter to Day Kimball Hospital. Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications (QVEC) initially requested a LIFESTAR helicopter as the closest resource but they declined the mission due to aviation weather. With LIFESTAR unable to fly, UMass Memorial Life Flight was requested from the North, and the mission was accepted. While en route LifeFlight was forced to return to base due to aviation weather. While it is currently unclear, it is likely the motorcyclist was transported via ground to a higher level of care after being stabilized at Day Kimball.

While on scene Troopers determined the motorcycle was struck by another vehicle and a BOLO was issued for a small gray SUV with red graffiti on the sides and likely heavy front-end damage.
