Oxford, MA – A call for an automatic fire alarm activation has grown to a 4 Alarm fire in Oxford Monday morning.
At approximately 2:35 AM on Monday, June 1st, 2024, the Oxford Fire Department was dispatched to an automatic fire alarm activation at the Oxford Transfer Station, 200 Leicester St.

After making their way through a locked gate companies found a heavy smoke condition in the building prompting a 1st alarm working fire assignment. Due to the physical nature of trash fires and long-duration operations, the fire has grown to a 4th alarm. Several aerial trucks and handlines are working to douse the flames within the building.

A tanker shuttle is currently in operation to supply water to a rural hitch on scene ensuring the “big water” operations on the scene can continue.
The Special Signal Fire Association Providence Canteen and Massachusetts Department of Fire Services (DFS) Rehab Unit are on the scene supporting firefighters. An air quality monitoring team has also been requested to the scene to ensure there are no additional hazards to the public.
Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Oxford Fire Department, Leicester Fire Department, Charlton Fire Department, Auburn Fire Department, Dudley Fire Department, Webster Fire Department, Spencer Fire Department, Sutton Fire Department, Webster EMS, Southbridge Fire Department, Millbury Fire Department, Douglas Fire Department, Paxton Fire Department, Grafton Fire Department, Quinebaug Vol Fire Department, Community Fire Company, Northbridge Fire Department, Special Signal Fire Association Providence Canteen, Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, and the Oxford Police Department.
