Brooklyn, CT – An 18-year-old Moosup man (17 at the time of the crash) was arrested last week on numerous charges, including DUI and manslaughter, for his role in the June 25th, 2023 accident which claimed the life of a 15-year-old Griswold girl and injured several others.
At approximately 4:35 am on Sunday, June 25th, 2023, the Mortlake Fire Company and mutual aid companies were dispatched to the intersection of Allen Hill Rd and Wauregan Rd for a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Three people were found entrapped in the vehicle taking nearly 30 minutes to free. Two other occupants were outside of the vehicle when responders arrived on the scene. All five occupants were transported to various area hospitals with serious injuries by ground ambulance and helicopter. Two of the occupants required further transport to hospitals that are able to provide a higher level of care and a 15-year-old Griswold girl succumbed to her injuries at Day Kimball Hospital. Following a lengthy investigation, an arrest warrant was drafted and signed by Danielson Superior Court for the operator of the vehicle. On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, the now 18-year-old Moosup man turned himself into Troop D without incident. The man is charged with the below charges and was released on a $275,000 cash/surety bond.
