Griswold, CT – A Griswold man was seriously injured when he collided with a pickup truck pulling out of a driveway on Hopeville Rd Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 1230 p.m. on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, units were dispatched for a reported car vs motorcycle MVA with serious injuries in the area of 1089 Hopeville Rd.

According to the Connecticut State Police, a 2006 Nissan Titan, operated by a 26-year-old man residing on Hopeville Rd, was stopped at the top of a driveway waiting to make a left turn northbound onto Hopeville Rd. At the same time a 2004 Suzuki AN650K3, operated by a 55-year-old man residing on Hopeville Rd, was traveling south on Hopeville Rd.

The Nissan pulled out of the driveway and began a left turn when the motorcycle struck its left side. The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and landed a short distance away.

The motorcyclist was transported to William Backus Hospital (Norwich) with serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan was uninjured.

The collision remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Troop E. Anyone who witnessed, has video, or has information regarding the collision is asked to contact Trooper Christopher Brett #691 at 860-868-6540.

Agencies that responded include the Griswold Fire Department, American Ambulance, and the Connecticut State Police Troop E.
