Killingly, CT – All lanes of I-395 Northbound were closed for over an hour Friday afternoon as emergency crews operated at a rollover vehicle accident. The highway has since reopened.

At approximately 12:10 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024 emergency crews were dispatched to I-395 North in the area of Exit 35 (Route 695) for a rollover vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to Chief Travis Vandale, South Killingly Fire Department, when crews arrived on the scene they found a vehicle on its roof in the middle of the highway and several occupants outside the vehicle. One patient was still in the vehicle and could not open their door due to the position of the vehicle but it was determined there was no mechanical entrapment. Crews were able to break a window and assist the individual out.

Three patients were transported by KB Ambulances, with paramedics onboard, to Day Kimball Hospital. Four other occupants refused medical transport.

The highway was closed at approximately 12:30 p.m. and all traffic was diverted to Route 695 until crews removed the vehicle and cleaned up the scene at approximately 1:45 p.m. The Connecticut DOT responded to the scene to perform guard rail repair and assist with roadway cleanup.

Agencies that responded included the South Killingly Fire Department, Danielson Fire Department, Moosup Fire Department, KB Ambulance, KB Ambulance QV Medic, Connecticut State Police Troop D, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
