Thompson, CT – At approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, May 13th, 2024, Community Fire Company’s 1st alarm was struck for a reported structure fire at 210 Buckley Hill Rd.

On arrival, crews discovered the home filled with smoke and significant siding damage to the C (rear from the road) side of the home. After calling 911, the homeowner utilized a garden hose to extinguish the bulk of the fire burning on the outside of the home.

As crews searched for any signs of the fire extending into the home, smoke was discovered coming from the shutter on the D (right from the road) side of the home. Crews were forced to cut away a large portion of the interior and exterior wall revealing the fire burning along the foundation.

Once the active fire was knocked down, firefighters utilized Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs) to ensure that the fire had not spread through any other walls. Crews remained on the scene until approximately 4:45 a.m. overhauling. No fire extended into the home but there was significant damage due to firefighting efforts.

No injuries occurred as a result of the fire. Two adult residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The incident is under investigation by the Thompson Fire Marshal’s Office and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU).

Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Community Fire Company, Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department, Thompson Fire Engine Company (Thompson Hill), West Thompson Fire Department, East Putnam Fire Department, Putnam Fire Department, Dayville Fire Company, Killingly Rehab Team, Dudley Fire Department, Webster Fire Department, Southbridge Fire Department, Muddy Brook Fire Department, Putnam EMS, Thompson Fire Marshals Office, and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU).
