Putnam, CT – Thieves broke into a James St West garage Tuesday evening getting away with two dirt bikes, one of which was gifted by the Make-A-Wish.
According to the Putnam Police Department, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 units responded to James St West for reports of a burglary into a detached garage. Units arrived to find the window of a door broken and two dirt bikes stolen. Police canvased the area on foot and with a state police K9 but were unable to locate the thieves or stolen dirt bikes.
In a Facebook post, the owners explained that the thieves eluded multiple Blink cameras and forced their way through a fence before breaking into the garage between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. while the residents were home.
The thieves stole two dirt bikes, a red 2018 Honda CRF250R and a white Husqvarna TE 250. The owners explained that the Husqvarna had been a gift from Make-a-Wish during their son’s hospitalization. The Honda was purchased by the father to ride with his son, a constant dream and goal during the treatment.
