Firearms and ammunition recovered from the suspect's vehicle - Dudley Police Department

Dudley & Southbridge, MA – Officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle at Storage Plus Saturday morning when the two occupants fled on foot. A K9 track led officers to the base of a pine tree where one of the suspects attempted to hide 10-15 feet up. Numerous drug, firearm, and burglary charges followed.

According to the Dudley Police Department, at approximately 12:40 am on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, an officer was conducting a property check at Storage Plus, 144 Schofield Ave, when he spotted a vehicle, with a cloth-covered license plate, and two males near two open storage units. The officer immediately requested backup to the scene.

When an additional officer arrived, they approached the men and attempted to conduct a pat down. The men pulled away and fled the area on foot. Officers gave chase, at one point attempting to subdue one of the suspects who fought back and got away. Additional units and Webster PD’s K9 Lee were requested to assist with the search.

A perimeter was established around the area and K9 Lee began a scent track of the suspects. A brief track led officers to a pine tree where one of the suspects had climbed approximately 15′ up. Officers ordered the suspects to the ground where he was placed into custody without further incident.

Officers continued to search for the second suspect but were unsuccessful.

Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, officers located 2 Glock firearms, ammunition, various burglarious tools, a small amount of narcotics, and items that are suspected to be stolen.

The man in custody was identified as a 38-year-old from Southbridge. He is currently being held on $10,000 cash bail for the charges below. Additional charges may follow pending the investigation.

Agencies that responded included the Dudley Police Department, Webster Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and Massachusetts Environmental Police.
