Canterbury, Conn. – A Lisbon man passed away Wednesday evening after being thrown from his motorcycle.

At approximately 9:26 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, the Canterbury Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 163 Butts Bridge Rd for a reported motorcycle accident.

While en route units received reports that an un-helmeted rider had been thrown approximately 50ft from the motorcycle and had serious injuries. A LIFE STAR medical helicopter was requested to the scene. When the first emergency unit arrived on the scene it was apparent that the victim has sustained fatal injuries and the helicopter was canceled.

According to the Connecticut State Police (CSP) the 24-year-old Lisbon man was traveling South on Butts Bridge Rd, operating a Kawasaki Ex-300b, when he left the roadway, striking multiple objects, before being thrown from the motorcycle.

Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Canterbury Fire Department, Scotland Fire Department, American Ambulance Paramedic, Hartford Healthcare LIFE STAR, and the Connecticut State Police.

In accordance with Quiet Corner Alerts policy, the name of the victim has been withheld.
