Thompson, Conn. – Shortly after 11 am on Wednesday, November 2nd, the East Thompson Volunteer Fire Department along with the Thompson Fire Engine Company (Thompson Hill) were dispatched to the Interstate 395 Northbound Exit 53 (Wilsonville Rd) on-ramp for a reported vehicle fire.

An East Thompson Fire Lieutenant was the first unit on scene and reported a fully involved pickup truck with all occupants self-extricated and un-injured. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but were unable to save the vehicle.

The smoke column from the fire could be seen for miles on I-395, and the Wilsonville Rd on-ramp remained closed for approximately an hour

The Woodstock Fire Marshall is supporting the Thompson Fire Marshall in investigating this fire.

Agencies on the scene included the East Thompson Volunteer Fire Department, Thompson Fire Engine Company, the Woodstock Fire Marshall, and the Connecticut State Police
