Thompson, CT — An ATV, which was stolen last week from a locked shed at the West Thompson Fire Department, was located Sunday morning in the Quaddick State Forest.
At approximately 6:01 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Troop D Troopers responded to 248 W Thompson Rd, West Thompson Fire Department, for reports that a four-wheeler had been stolen from a shed.
According to a press release issued by the West Thompson Fire Department, the burglary occurred between Friday, January 30, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The 2012 black Polaris ATV is utilized by the department when responding to emergency calls, including missing/injured persons and fire calls within their district. The West Thompson Fire Department is responsible for over 1200 acres of forest and grassland, making up the West Thompson Lake recreation area, as well as hundreds of acres of privately owned woodlands.
At approximately 6:30 AM on Monday, February 9, 2026, DEEP Officers were notified by Troop D that a tip had been received indicating the missing ATV might be located in the Baker Road trail system within the Quaddick State Forest. The Connecticut DEEP was able to confirm that Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ENCON) responded to the trail system and recovered an ATV. The Connecticut State Police were later able to confirm the missing ATV from the West Thompson Fire Department had been recovered, and the case remains active and ongoing.
