Charlton, MA – A Charlton man was placed in custody after multiple hours of negotiations following a domestic incident on Lincoln Point Rd Tuesday morning.
At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, the Charlton Police Department received a call from a third party reporting an ongoing domestic disturbance with a firearm involved inside a Lincoln Point Rd residence.
According to the Charlton Police Department, initial officers on the scene made contact with a resident, who exited the home as a result of the incident. Units were informed that the second resident was still inside with a firearm in their possession. A short time later officer heard sounds consistent with a firearm being discharged within the home.
Officers on the scene made the decision to bring in additional Law Enforcement resources from the region including a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC), a crisis negotiation team, and officers from numerous surrounding towns. EMS was also staged in the area for the duration of the incident.
Approximately 4 hours into the incident, a male suspect was taken into custody and will be arraigned in Dudley District Court on criminal charges related to this incident.
